Our online catalogue, available through Canmore, comprises records of almost 250,000 sites with nearly 800,000 descriptions of items or groups of items in the collections. Where an item in the collections relates to an identifiable building or site, it is linked to a record for that building or site. The primary search method for our catalogue is therefore by geographic location. Computerisation of the paper catalogues is well advanced but not yet complete and thus details of some material that has been catalogued is not yet available in Canmore. There are also substantial collections awaiting cataloguing. AirPhotoFinder is an application hosted by RCAHMS to help you to locate and order vertical Aerial Photography in Scotland. Contained within AirPhotoFinder are details of flight plots which illustrate where there will be vertical aerial photographic coverage. The system is not yet comprehensive and it is always recommended that you contact info@rcahms.gov.uk to check whether additional aerial photographs are available. Where details are not yet available through Canmore, staff can help you with your enquiry. See how to use us. |

| You can consult the collections by visiting the public search room in John Sinclair House. There is no entrance fee. For most general enquiries, no appointment is necessary but where an enquiry is complex or detailed, we recommend that an appointment is made. Appointments are always essential for consulting the Air Photographs Collection and the collection of the Royal Incorporation of Architects in Scotland (RIAS). For those who are unable to visit, enquiries can be made by telephone, fax, letter, or email info@rcahms.gov.uk. | |||
